Med school celebrates groundbreaking for new center
By: Diana Jordan / Staff Writer The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine founders and deans traded their jackets for hardhats on Thursday, July 30, for the groundbreaking ceremony of the college’s 18,000 square-foot Ambulatory Care Center, which will include both surgery and outpatient centers. Passersby on 8th Street and 107th Avenue were able to catch a glimpse of the white tent at the Modesto Maidique campus occupied by those who have seen the college’s blueprint turn into a reality. “This is a great morning,” commenced founding dean and master of ceremony, John Rock, as he welcomed those who gathered for the 9 a.m. ceremony.
