Coley wins Player of the Year in Sun Belt

Coley averaged 24 points and seven rebounds per game this season

On Feb. 29, she was honored for her performance this year by the Sun Belt, which named her the Player of the Year for the conference.
She currently the third leading scorer in the nation at 24 points per game, just a half a point behind second place Tavelyn James of Eastern Michigan.
The sophomore is also 41st in the nation in blocks per game, averaging two per contest.

Panthers tame Jaguars in overtime

Down by as much as 16 to South Alabama, the Panthers looked outmatched in every sense of the word. Nothing was going right. Every shot they took was clanking off of the rim and every shot the Jaguars took was going straight in. They looked tired and slow. Head coach Cindy Russo says it’s the change of defense that got the Panthers going.

Panther’s halftime deficit too much against UALR

Despite being down 16 points at halftime, the Panthers (17-9, 7-6 SBC) tried to force themselves back into the lead in the second half. However, that furious comeback effort came up five points short as the Panthers lost 63-58 to Arkansas Little Rock (14-12, 9-4 SBC) at the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock.

The weekend didn’t go quite as well as coach Melissa Applebaum-Dall’au and her team would have liked it. At the Lady Raider Shootout in Lubbock, Texas, the Panthers fell to 1-9 on the season after getting swept 0-3 in the three day tournament.

The Panthers trailed early and often but when the scoreboard displayed all zeros, it ended up in the win column. Their first lead did not come until 13:10 to go in the game, but head coach Cindy Russo figured it would be enough.
